April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4 1995 in seventh grade. She began playing guitar and piano classes, which spurred her love for songwriting. April's very first song was titled Different. She wrote it aged 12. She spent lots of time at 14 writing songs, and practicing her music. Later on she began to take writing trips along with her father, on trips to LA in addition to NY. April started to include other subjects in Take My Hand for her friends who were dealing in the face of peer pressure, disability or even suicide. Lockhart has a partnership with top clean-skin brand Ilia and is a lifestyle blogger with an increasing following of her own. Lockhart was born without a left hand. It's one aspect of who she is, but it's far from the entirety of her story. As a result Lockhart's Instagram profile does not shy away from her handicap, however she doesn't focus on it in any way. What's the message? The message is that we are more than just our physical self. Our identities are complicated and we contain many different elements. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she does not want to be defined solely by her physical disability. She doesn't wish to become an advocate for disabled people who only speaks about it. There are many aspects of Lockhart. The issue doesn't affect my everyday activities. I go about my business as usual and have come up with my own methods to adjust. Because it is also part of who I am It's an issue worth discussing. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon however Lockhart is an absolute inspiration on that front. But she has admitted to going through phases of her body having a feeling of insecurity when wearing specific types of clothes that showed off the arms of her. Today, she wears anything she'd like. and she shares pictures on social media. The self-love she talks about is a process. I'm not certain if it will ever be over. This is true for everyone regardless of their levels of anxiety. It's my opinion that having those around you who really are aware of you and know the depths of your soul is vital because they'll be the people whom you can count on to remind you about what you concerned about?
